Residual Space explores the uncertain territory between structure and dissolution. Fragmented planes, suspended forms and traces of colour inhabit a space that appears to have been constructed and dismantled at the same time.

Earthy ochres, muted browns and translucent neutrals establish an almost archaeological ground, interrupted by concentrated areas of blue, yellow, orange and charcoal. Some forms acquire weight and volume, while others remain barely articulated, as if they were fragments of something no longer entirely accessible.

Rather than describing a specific place, the painting suggests the residue of one. Lines cross without resolving into perspective; shapes approach recognition and then withdraw from it. Areas of exposed ground and transparency become as significant as the painted forms themselves, allowing absence to operate as an active element of the composition.

In Residual Space, space is not an empty background but something that carries traces: of structures, movements and perhaps memories whose original order can no longer be reconstructed.
